It’s a Girl!

Men are physically stronger often and larger, but what does that matter when we have machines? Even when we don’t have machines, when we must dig with shovel or carry on the back, the men may work faster-the big ones-but the women work longer….Often I have wished I was as tough as a woman.”-The Dispossessed

Dispossessed is an award winning science fiction novel set on another planet, among an alien species. The questions it tackles are as important today as they were when the book was first published in 1974. Ursulak Le Guin explores the class system and feminism in this classic novel. The discrepancies among the genders are not as bad as they used to be. Women can do anything today that a man can. Unfortunately, I am here to tell you that we will be judged as an uncivilized species if the report is based on how we treat majority of the women on this planet. Half of the human species is discriminated against. And according to infanticide and feticide rates across the globe it is done even before birth.

Why I didn’t know about the Beatles?

November 27, 2008 by barindersingh

The sun smiled glorious and unkind,
At the wheat laden plains.
Winter allowed the cold to unfold,
Before the monsoon rains.

With celebrations every month,
Festivals for all occasions,
Enjoyable gatherings forget to regret.
Make time for such persuasions.

Although I have heard the songs,
Of the rain, love, loss, and gain.
I must admit, there was no submit,
Of a song such as you claim.

Perhaps there were beetles where I am from.
I am sure they sang their song.
The songs that I have heard were different,
Language, rhyme and form.

In the midst of all our differences,
Our smiles are the same.
My song is in your possession,
On yours I lay no claim.

Amedeo Modigliani

November 27, 2008 by barindersingh

Life full of excess
Filled with alcohol, women and drugs
Life without success
Spent in ambrosia filled jugs

Life full of passion
Filled with adoration, loathing and love
Life without approval
Smudged in colour when it came to push or shove

Admired, repugnant or led
Ask Picasso Who whispered:
Modigliani
On his own death bed

Loved to live
Lived to love
Passionate about Paint
Painted about Passion

Mad, Maniac Modigliani

Gregor won by 18,804 votes (or 15.1%), which is a sizable majority over Peter Ladner. Interestingly, for Betty Krawczyk of the Work Less Party – she can tell her voters and fans that she finished third in this race (even though she only captured 1.1% of the casted votes)! And despite her finishing third as well as the WLP in many of the contests Pete Quily’s Social Networking Analysis didn’t cover it – however he should have as WLP has a strong presence on Facebook.
